Intergenerational exchange as a strategy to promote democratic values

Recent events in the intergenerational political context show that democracy is under serious threat in many parts of the world.

The Ties of Freedom project will create several moments of knowledge-sharing between individuals who have lived through totalitarian and authoritarian regimes and the democratic transition.

Objectives

The aims of the project are :

• To promote intergenerational exchange and understanding.
• Raise young people’s awareness of democratic values by encouraging dialogue with individuals who have experienced life under authoritarian regimes.
• Empower youth as ambassadors of democracy.
• Preserve and share European historical memory.
• Encourage active citizenship and civic dialogue.
• Raise awareness of EU values and achievments.

“Ties of Fredoom” will encourage young people to get involved in decision-making and democratic processes.
